Canada Peace in Ukraine Stamp

PeaceOnEarthStampThe Ukrainian Collectibles Society (Toronto) is proud to announce a new Canada Post Picture Postage stamp proclaiming Canada’s support for Ukraine during the unprovoked and illegal full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. The stamp design features a peace dove with an olive branch. The Permanent domestic rate stamp can be used to mail a letter anywhere in Canada or kept as a souvenir.
Five dollars from each item will be donated to Friends of Ukraine Defense Forces Fund (www.fudffund.ca).  You can make an additional donation on your purchase.

Royal Canadian Legion Ukrainian Branch stamp

Legion Stamp 2015 v1The Ukrainian Collectibles Society (Toronto) issued on November 14, 2015 a Canada Post Picture Postage stamp commemorating the Royal Canadian Legion Ukrainian Branch No. 360.   CLUB 360 (an acronym for the Canadian Legion Ukrainian Branch) opened its doors in 1945 as a social club for Ukrainian war vet and in 1949 voluntarily joining the Royal Canadian Legion.  Toronto's Royal Canadian Legion Branch 360 voted in 1953 to make Konowal its patron, Canada's only Ukrainian Canadian recipient of the Victoria Cross, which is the British Empire's highest military distinction. The Branch closed in 2005.

UCSTPEX 2014 - Stamp show in Toronto - June 8

UCST-taras-shevchenkoThe Ukrainian Collectibles Society (Toronto) is hosting a philatelic, numismatic and collectibles exhibition on Sunday June 8, 2014 at the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Community Centre, 482 Horner Ave, Toronto. Exhibition hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The show promises to be one of the most exciting ever featuring outstanding Ukrainian philatelic material including exhibits commemorating the 200 anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko. As well, there will be exhibits of bank notes, coins, medals, post cards and autographs.

At the show, a “personalized” Canada Post stamp commemorating the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko will be available. The stamp design features a portrait of the Ukrainian bard by Windsor artist John Jaciw. Mr. Jaciw is a renowned medal and coin designer having won domestic and international competitions for coins, tokens and medals.

The Taras Shevchenko stamps may be used for mailing in Canada or retained as a souvenir. Limited edition first day covers with a complimentary design will also be available. A special Canada Post cancel will be available during the show.

World renowned bandurist Victor Mishalow will perform works to celebrate the genius of Taras Shevchenko at 3:00 p.m.

Ordering Senator Yuzyk Stamp

The Canada Post Picture Postage stamp honouring the last Senator Paul Yuzyk is selling briskly.  Order your sheet, booklet or FDC before the limited quantity runs out.  Download the order form and either email your order to ucst@upns.org or mail it to the address on the form.  This stamp was announced by Senator Andreychuk in the Senate of Canada last Nov 7 and a framed copy of the sheet was presented to the Minister of Multiculturalism Jason Kenney as well as the Embassador of Ukraine to Canada.  This Picture Postage stamp is not available at Canada Post offices and must be ordered directly from the Ukrainian Collectibles Society (Toronto).
